چکیده

Background Cardiac MRI is the reference standard for cardiac morphology and functional assessment of left and right ventricular (LV,RV) end-diastolic and -systolic volumes (EDV, ESV), stroke volume (SV), ejection fraction (EF) and myocardial mass (Mass) due to its high image resolution tissue differentiation. Because of its cylindrical shape and resulting spatial restrictions, a significant amount of obese and claustrophobic patients, at least 10-15%, cannot be studied at all or only with higher amounts of sedation. Recently, 1.0T open MRI, which offers more space due to its different magnet architecture, has been introduced mainly for orthopaedic purposes but until now has rarely been used for cardiovascular functional measurements. We sought to investigate the performance of 1.0T open MRI for cardiovascular function and to compare LVand RV-EDV, -ESV, -SV, -EF, longitudinal RV and LV function and Mass for both 1.0 and 1.5T.

The effect of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and quercetin supplementation on dimension and functional left ventricular adaptations in men with hypertension and CAD after PCI

Objective: The present study investigated the effects of 10-week High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and quercetin consumption on dimension and functional left ventricular adaptations in men with hypertension and coronary artery disease (CAD) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).   Materials and Methods: In this semi-experimental randomized, placebo‑controlled and double‑blind s...

عملکرد سیستولی قلب در بیماران سیروزی کاندید پیوند کبد در مقایسه با گروه کنترل

Background: We assessed different systolic cardiac indices to describe left and right ventricular dysfunction in cirrhotic patients before liver transplantation. Methods: In this case-control study, eighty-one consecutive individuals with the confirmed hepatic cirrhosis and candidate for liver transplantation in the Imam Khomeini Hospital between March 2008 and March 2010 were selected. T...

Doppler-Derived Myocardial Performance Index in Healthy Children in Shiraz

Background: Assessment of myocardial function is essential in heart disease, but in regard to systolic and diastolic functions such evaluation has limitation. Ejection fraction is difficult to assess in abnormally-shaped ventricles, and diastolic inflow velocity pattern may be fused because of tachycardia. Objective: A myocardial performance index (MPI) or Tei index has been developed for adult...

Evaluation of diffuse myocardial fibrosis using contrast-enhanced look-locker cardiac MRI and its relation with cardiac function in dilated cardiomyopathy: comparison between 1.5T and 3T

Background Cardiac MRI is useful for evaluation of severity and prognosis of DCM. This can render myocardial scarring in delayed contrast-enhanced MRI, but the scarring is observed only in 30%-40% of DCM cases presenting with congestive heart failure. Because of its binary contrast between the normal myocardium and scarring, delayed contrasenhanced MRI may fail to detect the diffuse myocardial ...

The influence of Asthma on Right Ventricular Systolic and Diastolic Function in Children according to Tissue Doppler Echocardiography

Introduction:Asthma is the most common chronic inflammatory condition affecting the lower airways among children. Asthma may influence right ventricular (RV) function and patients may develop right ventricular hypertrophy, pulmonary hypertension and cor pulmonale. The main objective of this study is to determine RV dysfunction in asymptomatic asthmatic children as detected by ti...
